New Progress of Foreign Chemical Fiber Test Equipment


The versatility of MAE micro-research equipment is good, and a variety of solvent systems can be selected, such as DMSO/DMAc/DMF, inorganic solvents including NaSCN/ZnCl2/nitric acid/ethylene carbonate and new ionic liquids. The wet spinning device can be configured with two forming methods, namely, the wet spinning process and the dry jet-wet spinning process.

Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is a highly reputable laboratory focusing on high-performance materials research, equipped with sophisticated carbon fiber and composite materials research equipment, low-cost carbon fiber research equipment, and new precursor test equipment such as polyolefin and lignin. The ORNL laboratory is at the forefront of the development of advanced composite materials, demonstrating the value of test equipment in the research and development of high-performance materials.

The size of the MAE micro-research test equipment is 19m × 3m × 2.5m (length × width × height), the material delivery efficiency is 0.5 kg/h, and the preparation capacity of the stock solution is 10L/batch. Based on the modular design concept of MAE micro research equipment, the basic structural unit of the test line is easy to move and can be reorganized into a new test chain within a few hours according to user needs. If the combination of 14 sets of rollers and 3 water bath tanks is used, three different water washing processes can be realized, namely:(1) two-stage water washing/water bath drawing;(2) high-speed water washing/water bath drawing;(3) pre-drawing/water washing/drawing process.

At the JEC World 2017 seminar, the Italian company MAE presented a new series of wet research equipment, a miniature, multi-purpose wet forming test device. MAE micro research equipment can be used for the preparation of carbon fiber precursor, and its good process elasticity is also suitable for the forming research of viscose fiber, aromatic polyamide fiber, hollow core regenerated cellulose fiber and special polymer materials.

Chemical fiber testing equipment mainly includes melting, wet and dry forming equipment. With the progress of polymer and fiber technology, it will also be accompanied by the emergence of new research and testing equipment. This paper will briefly introduce the wet spinning research equipment and the carbon fiber precursor test platform.

Polymers and new fiber products will generally go through several stages before entering the market, such as basic research, laboratory, commercial test, scale production and demonstration plant construction. Among them, the commercialization test stage is the most important, and the test equipment is the key link for the commercialization of new products and rapid entry into the market.
